Qualifications: 

• Fully licensed to teach in Arkansas
• Experience preferred but not required
• Trained in the science of reading or willing to complete within one year
• Ability to work effectively with students and adults
• Willingness to work as part of a team toward achieving school and district goals

 

Essential job responsibilities: (examples but not an exhaustive list)

• Be a positive, productive member in the professional learning community
• Create a positive, structured educational climate in the classroom and contribute to a positive work environment
• Participate in ongoing training sessions and meet requirements to maintain licensure
• Follow state, district, and school guidelines to instruct students on subjects such as social studies, science, language arts, math, health, and social-emotional learning
• Create a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program that focuses on the whole child
• Contribute to and follow curriculum decisions 
• Create and follow lesson plans differentiated for individual students’ needs

• Prepare and deliver instructional activities and assessments
• Utilize various curriculum resources that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
• Observe and evaluate student's performance, providing timely and specific feedback
• Accurately maintain grade books and other school records within given timelines
• Manage student behavior using approved disciplinary procedures including positive behavior interventions
• Communicate with parents/guardians regularly regarding progress and/or concerns

Other job functions:

• Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met
• Read and stay informed of current topics in education
• Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs where applicable
• Serve on committees/teams as needed
