Qualifications:
- Fully licensed to teach in Arkansas
- Experience preferred but not required
- Trained in the science of reading or willing to complete within one year
- Ability to work effectively with students and adults
- Willingness to work as part of a team toward achieving school and district goals
Essential job responsibilities: (examples but not an exhaustive list)
- Be a positive, productive member in the professional learning community
- Create a positive, structured educational climate in the classroom and contribute to a positive work environment
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and meet requirements to maintain licensure
- Follow state, district, and school guidelines to instruct students on subjects such as social studies, science, language arts, math, health, and social-emotional learning
- Create a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program that focuses on the whole child
- Contribute to and follow curriculum decisions
- Create and follow lesson plans differentiated for individual students’ needs
- Prepare and deliver instructional activities and assessments
- Utilize various curriculum resources that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
- Observe and evaluate student's performance, providing timely and specific feedback
- Accurately maintain grade books and other school records within given timelines
- Manage student behavior using approved disciplinary procedures including positive behavior interventions
- Communicate with parents/guardians regularly regarding progress and/or concerns
Other job functions:
- Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met
- Read and stay informed of current topics in education
- Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs where applicable
- Serve on committees/teams as needed
