Qualifications:

-Applicant must hold a valid Arkansas Teaching License with certification required for Special Education

_Candidates wiling to complete an ALP with special education will be considered

-An understanding of teaching and the duties of a teacher as an educational leader

-Eligibility to hold a valid instructional certificate as issued by the Department of Education for the state of Arkansas

-Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable

-Be proficient with and have the ability to adapt to basic workplace technology

-Manual dexterity to use office equipment

-Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding

-Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress

-Ability to physically move students or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs., position students in specialized equipment, and or -assist students with personal care

-Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in United States required

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

-Demonstrate relentless commitment to academic achievement of all students.
-Establish and maintain an orderly classroom environment in which students actively participate.
-Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.
-Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
-Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.

-Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
-Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify curricula as needed according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
-Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
-Plan and supervise assignments of instructional assistant(s) and volunteer(s).
-Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
-Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through interim and formative assessments.

-Provide instruction to special education students as specified in each student’s Individual Education Plan

-Maintain compliance in all areas of ADE required documentation of the special education process not limited to but specifically including accepting referrals, referral conferences, evaluation programming conferences, separate programming, manifestation determinations, annual reviews, and transition plans in accordance with IDEA guidelines and regulations

-Use technology and instructional resources effectively

-Demonstrate concern for students as individuals

-Engage as an active member of a collaborative team as part of a professional learning community

-Monitor and document student achievement

-Maintain two-way communication with parents

-Participate in professional learning opportunities

-Perform other duties as assigned
